Международная организация, в состав которой входят национальные ассоциации спортивной медицины. Основной сферой деятельности Международной федерации спортивной медицины является содействие изучению и развитию спортивной медицины в различных странах мира и оказание помощи спортсменам в достижении ими оптимальных результатов посредством максимальной реализации их генетического потенциала, поддержания здоровья, обеспечения питанием и высококачественным медицинским обслуживанием. Федерация была основана в феврале 1928 г., во время Олимпийских зимних игр в Санкт-Морице (Швейцария) под первоначальным названием Международная ассоциация спортивной медицины.

International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS)
International organization comprising national sports medicine associations. FIMS aims primarily to promote the study and development of sports medicine throughout the world, and to assist athletes in achieving optimal performance by maximizing their genetic potential, health, nutrition, and high-quality medical care. It was founded at the Winter Olympics held in St Moritz, Switzerland in February 1928 under the name of the Association International Medico-Sportive.
